Wants me dead

The evil man who massacred churchgoers in Knoxville, my hometown, would kill me if he had the chance. There are others, too, and he appeals to them to act.

It's sobering.

Isn't it ironic that nearly everything that has gone wrong in these people's lives, from being cannon fodder to being swept aside to the scrapheap when one reaches a certain age are just the things that we on the left are fighting to change. It has to be one of the most masterful pieces of mis-education in history that the ruling elite has managed to get these guys so completely confused over the cause of their troubles. There must be some way to reach these people with the truth, but how?

Ain't that the truth. The right has suckered these people with Rush and the rest of the resent-fueling politics of division. We used to fight back with class-based appeal, but we don't do much of that anymore.

Maybe the feeling of being suckered is what we need to give them, since it's true, but there's no direct way to do that. It has to be done indirectly to avoid strengthening their rationalizations in favor of a rigid worldview.

That's for economic and international issues. Social issues, I have no idea.
