Principled stand

... and Duhbya's principle is that Medicare should be destroyed:

Bush spiked the bill Tuesday, telling lawmakers they would be "taking choices away from seniors to pay physicians."
That way, seniors will have two choices - expensive health care or no health care - versus the current one choice - moderately expensive health care.

White House clears brush in Texas

Does anyone else find this headline weird?

White House to veto foreclosure bill
Last I looked, the veto power was solely granted by the (former) Constitution to the President. And 'President' has fewer letters than 'White House' anyway.

Caprice

Duhbya will even spare an evil-doer the death penalty if it enhances his power. And you know it's painful to him when his two core principles collide: I-have-the-power vs. snuff-the-criminal. But for the sake of future Cheneys, he has to grasp every possible power.

If this were about mercy, well, the Presidential power to commute the sentence is just sitting there in the Constitution, feeling pretty lonely now that the veto power has been featured in so many threats.
