On this strange and mournful day

Republicans are fond of claiming that Duhbya "kept us safe" after 9/11. Well, I would not give you false hope, but today Obama's record by their standards is undeniably better than Duhbya's.

As a defender of rationality rather than sticking my head in the sand, I know that there's no guarantee of the continued providence of safety. But maybe we can all agree on the hope of our continued safety and argue about credit at leisure.

Duhbya got specific Intelligence from the Clinton administration on their way out about real terrorist threats including using airplanes as weapons and better security and information coordination.

Under Clinton's administration several actual US soil terrorist plans were thwarted. One near where I live - Thanks Clinton.

Duhbya not only igored good information, but he cowboy-ed around basically pissing off the terrorists and apparently attracting them to Iraq. Nice move.

I feel Bush II needs to bear some responsibility for 9/11, and I think history if not a court of law will judge him on this.

Is Obama benefitting from the safeguards instituted by Bush? As your trufer/poster pines for a court to try Chimpy, let's hope the One does not piss off Osama - perhaps though too late given today's audio from the cave.

I am not aware of many safeguards that Bush actually implimented.

The 9/11 commision report recommendations during his watch were largely ignored. And many vulnerabilities in the US, like container ships, had no action whatsoever. What Dubya DID put energy into was continuing wars abroad. How did that make us safer?

And you take Osama BL tape seriously? That is evidence to you? Who's side are you on?
