It's typical Rovian bullshit unworthy of my time to read, though I did waste that time anyway, and certainly unworthy to refute line by line. His commentary on progressivity is subtly only relative to a head tax. It involves, as so many Bushist talking points do, the redefinition of a well-known word. In other words, Rove is lying, par for the course for him and for the WSJ editorial page.
Rove's role of government cavil is similarly deceptive. He frames reasonable-sounding rhetorical questions, but his answer is that of course government has a role, and that role is ... to abdicate much of the role it has.
It always amazes me how persistently you right-wingers want to be fooled so that you can retain your belief in a simple world with simple problems and simple solutions.
To sum up: The WSJ ed page and Karl Rove deserve the credibility they have - zero.
