Feeling safe

A pro-violence wingnut feels safe enough, even when identified by name, to say this:

"I can understand how someone can be frustrated enough to throw a brick through a congresswoman's window," [Michael B. Vanderboegh of Pinson, Alabama,] said.

He said he feels the health care bill is "unconstitutional and tyrannical."

"My answer is violence, by getting their attention," he said, adding, "If we can get across to the other side, that they are within inches of provoking a civil war in this country, then that's a good thing."

Again, it's the people who haven't done anything violent who are at fault for the violence.

Update (3/26): This gets even more absurd. Vanderboegh lives on disability from the government. If this asshole had actual principles instead of mere narcissistic resentments, he would starve himself to death. (h/t Atrios)

It gets even better. Check this link for his signature on a declaration to "condemn terrorism and all terrorists".

Hates terrorists, unless they're working for him. Sounds about right.

I found the reference to Mr. Vanderboegh from Pindick, Alabama's blog, but even using Google I was unable to find any link to an actual blog (I'm still looking). I wonder whether he exists, and in whose interest it was to quote him on CNN? There are angry droolers hanging around on park benches in my own fair city in New England who have just as pointed views as this arthropod from AL, and they would also love to be quoted in the pages of CNN. I think Mr. Vanderboegh is a little straw man who was if not invented at least given some undeserved credibility by CNN.

The conservatives should read up on civics in order to understand the concept of "rule of the majority," and then consider how they've been hemorraging votes (and supporters) for the last three election cycles. Their policies and their leaders have failed, and rational voters have to look elsewhere. Democracy hasn't much to offer to the fringe.
