Tallahansing Michirida

The campaigns shouldn't have to pay to repair the knowing mischief of Florida and Michigan, but they probably have to to make this nettle go away. You know that Republican Gov. Charlie Crist in Florida would never offer the slightest effort to fix any problem that Democrats have. Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm in Michigan? Maybe.

Even if the campaigns do effectively pay the $30 million cost of this fiasco, they should set up separate funds that don't affect their further fund-raising ability (assuming there's a legal way, probably via the DNC).

The BILLARY Campaign is trying to evoke the hero/helper literary archetype and recast Obama as a "vice president," a supporting role in the narrative that is the presidential election " Robin to her Batman, Marci to her Peppermint Patty, Bush to her Cheney.

The BILLARY campaign hopes that the more they repeat the concept of a BILLARY/Obama ticket, the more people will view Obama as a secondary character.

There are also racial undertones: casting the black man as a supporting character rather than the lead role. The BILLARY are trying to tap into deep seeded biases, that dark voice in some people"s minds that says, "Hey, it would be remarkable for a black man to be vice president. He should be more than happy with that."

THEIR INTENTION IS TO STEAL THIS ELECTION FROM THE MOST EDUCATED, UNITED, INFORMED, PEOPLE IN THE NATION.

I think you meant to respond to this post. True or not, I think you should take a deep breath and see this primary election in less apocalyptic terms. I'd much rather have Obama, despite his short time on the national stage, but Hillary would so far surpass McCain that I'm unwilling to vote for her if I have to.

Of course, I'm guilty of seeing the general election as potentially apocalyptic, since any Republican win would continue and reward the policies of the Bushists.

I think they same could be said of women if it were Obama as Pres and Hillary is VP...

I think either way would be a good combo and both have thier pros and cons.

Since when can a political party tell a state when to hold an electon? Presumably there were other state contests in Florida and Michigan besides the presidential primary. If the DNC wanted to "punish" they should have done something like excluding the state parties from the National Commttee itself for a year. But "punishing" a state -- no way, unless it doesn't make any difference (like the Republicans). The Democrats are going to have to pay, since they are the ones who made the bonehead move, and the state taxpayers have no obligation to get them off the hook.

The parties get to decide which delegates they seat for their conventions. It would be pretty strange if the government got to do that.

The Republicans of course used exactly the same power; they just don't have a close race.

It has always been customary to work this out, but, after seven years of Bushworld, customary is no longer how things work.

Don't blame Bush for the Florida/Michigan mess. He is doing his incompetent best to throw the general election to the Democrats, but this mess is more the "snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory" variety. -- RoyC

Sadly, RoyC, there's truth to that. I just blame Duhbya for the general overthrow of the rule of law and the power of consensus.

What do you call a group of people who refuse to follow the rules, have no idea of the consequences of their actions, then demand to have someone else foot the bill for their mistake less they feel disenfranchised? A Florida Democrat

Actually, it was the Florida Republicans, both the legislature and the governor, who gave the Florida Dems a choice: recountable paper trails in voting and a primary that violated the DNC's reasonable rule - or neither. Tough choice! That's why the Republicans did it.
