Time to slam the door

Sure, I've sounded cocky here, here, and here. But let me tell you that there's an undercurrent of paranoia and apprehension that's keeping me awake at night. As Obama says:

"We've got 19 days. We're going to have to work absolutely as hard as we've ever worked in our lives in order to just to get to the start of what is going to be a very difficult and very challenging but ultimately a very fulfilling four years where we can get this country back on track."
Feets don't fail me now!

Update: One reason for my apprehension is that my reports of John McCain's demise have been premature before.

So far, all the conclusions by all the pundits are
totally based upon POLLS. Not a single actual vote
has been cast yet. Obama supporters gush at how
well their man has done in the debates, which proves
once again that Obama is a good debater and a good
speaker. It doesn't say anything about his character,
judgement, or what kind of a leader he would be.
I still would rather trust a man who would not sell out
his fellow prisoners, even during 5 years of torture,
than to trust a man who betrayed a 20 year friendship,
for personal ambition. And ... regarding this election,
until people actually vote ... it ain't over till it's over!

Think about the issue from another perspective:

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask
Your forgiveness and to seek your direction and
Guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those
Who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we
Have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed
Our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it
The lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it
Welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it
Choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it
Justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our
Children and called it< /SPAN>

Building self esteem..

We have abused power and called it
Politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions
And called it

Ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and
Pornography and called it

Freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values
Of our forefathers and called it

Enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts
Today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Amen!

The response was immediate. A number of
Legislators walked out during the prayer in
Protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian
Church, where Rev. Wright is pas tor, logged more than
5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls
Responding negatively. The church is now receiving
International requests for copies of this prayer
FromIndia, Africa andKorea.

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on
His radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,'and
Received a larger response to this program than any
Other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep
Over our nation and wholeheartedly become our
Desire so that we again can be called 'one nation
Under God.'
If possible, please pass this prayer on to
Your friends. 'If you don't stand for something,
You will fall for everything.'

Anonymous, did this have anything to do with the blog item? Or is it just spam?

lovable liberal said...

Howard, have a look at John McCain's current willingness to give up anything that stood in the way of his becoming the nominee.

What 20-year friendship were you talking about?

And, technically, quite a few votes have already been cast. Lots of states have early voting. But of course no votes have been counted yet.

Oh my God... Howard leaves dopey comments at your blog just like he does at mine.

Really, Howie... get some new material, open your eyes, don't follow the lemmings over the clif and try using your own brain...

After anonymous's post, he should simply shoot himself in the head twice, and that should relieve his agonizing pain... ours, too. Otherwise, his list just looks like a fricken party!

Did you hear the news today that the Communist Party of America had a release that "this is our time". Hmmm. I wonder if that is because Obama is a marxist-communist?

I agree it's time to shut the door - but not on McCain. If this son of a bitch gets into office this country will never be the same. Communist? Marxist? Are you freakin kidding me? What is wrong with you people!

lovable liberal said...

You know, anyone who thinks Obama is a communist must enjoy believing nonsense without evidence.

Hey, anon, can you even define what a communist is? Or is it just anyone you disagree with passionately enough? For instance, do you think I'm a commie, too?

And, no, I didn't hear that "news" today. Where did you hear it? WorldNetDaily? LGF? Some other purveyor of bullshit? Or did you just make it up, as so many wingnuts happily do?

Even so, if there were a communist in America who supported Obama, how would that matter? What if there were a Nazi who supported McCain? Would that matter, too?

Do you have two brain cells to rub together?

Your fundamental problem "anonymous" is that you don't even understand what "socialism" is. You equate successful socialist country's like Sweden with communism. This is the problem.. sliding onto this argument is disregarding the facts.
Also, you think that taxing only 5%of the citizens in this country is somehow taxing the rest.. Mccain says the same thing.. he equates that 5% with the other 95%, without explaining himself. I know what he means... he means that taxing that 5% is going to equal fewer jobs for the other 95%, but he doesn't say it, because I don't even think Mccain fully understands the economy. Besides, that's false... the wealthiest 5% of American citizens should place a wager on the American people and reinvest in our potential, instead of blatantly turing their backs on us and disregarding our potential to regenerate our own country. That's the problem, they want to pack up and leave where labor is cheapest... but Nooo - you'd rather see jobs continue to be shipped over seas so the rich can get richer..
How about this, ALL of the fat cats can simply pack up now and leave - get out of here! We don't need you here anmymore. LEAVE! Take your money and leave. Let the REAL patriots stay here and prosper because we believe in our OWN PEOPLE!!

Yes, I feel the apprehension, too. One reason is that there, undeniably, is a percentage of U.S. citizenry that is racist, afraid to have an intelligent president, and/or still has "W" bumper stickers on their vehicles. I've come to the conclusion that they are either ignorant or exceedingly wealthy (or both). Plus, we're all familiar with Republican vote tampering of the past two elections. There is plenty to be apprehensive about.

Americans are weary of CEO parachutes, tired of Corporate Welfare, tired of paying the unfair taxes of the Wealthy who don't carry their weight when they don't pay taxes like the rest of us. Bill Gates said it perfectly during the Charlie Rose interview.

Look, The McCain 2000 campaign is not the McCain 2008 campaign.

Yes, I fact check. org, nosey around get some insight at valid sites where folks aren't all huffing and puffing wind bags but make some very good points.

Sure, there are some jokers but nothing really nasty and outright vile.

If McCain only kept his Independent streak, surrounded himself with good folks instead of the same team that vilified him and smeared his own campaign in 2000, if he only didn't fall into the Bush/Cheney party line.

If only he picked and vetted a qualified VP. He'd have many happy converts on his side.

The truth is, McCain chose to surround himself with Bush/Cheney surrogates and advisers, he chose to follow Bush doctrine, not just the war but the methods of dealing with the America public in general. McCain, like Bush, shunned the press, instead of taking them on, GO OUT and INTERVIEW, talk to them, every station, every newspaper, every where, they are there to be used. Instead he dismissed the media, hid Palin like some fragile flower or some secret mistress. Com'on, we had a secret Administration that did nothing but lie and keep secrets from us. Why would we want that again? We're tired of Enron, Haliburton, Blacwater group, MWDs not found, false misleading smears.

Don't blame the media, don't give us excuses for poor performances, don't blame the other guy. I wanna hear what you got. Palin fails to do that, McCain fails to do it. Obama and Biden closed the deal for me - this is a cohesive team with a purpose to lead America into better times. They have a plan they have outlined, they are most importantly, showing me the have focused leadership, diplomatic qualities, innovative, enthusiastic. I get it. McCain doesn't and he doesn't get me.

I'm Voting for Sen. McCain, Where are the polls so I can cast my vote there.

Maybe, many people don't feel they have to vote.
After all, Sen. Obama has already won?

Or maybe it is politically correct to say you plan to vote for Sen. Obama or is it?

Maybe, the polls are for the Democrats to vote on
and the Republicans vote in the booths?

Maybe Sen. Obama has concerns he may lose.
He looked a little concerned when Gov. Palin was announced as a running mate and his choice was Sen. Biden.

I'd be concerned if I were Sen. Obama.
After all, who is this right person for the job?

Anon, you get to vote on Nov. 5, yeah, that's the ticket.

You are a miracle to test tube science, feces to human...

That would be "miracle of". The "feces to human" part, though, is a mystery. What did you mean by that? Were you just trying to show that you know the word 'feces'? 'Cause the phrase doesn't make any sense...
